2.3. When do you advise to travel?

The tourist season for the Trans-Siberian starts in May and finishes in late September, most travels are made from July till early September both by foreign and local tourists enjoying their summer holidays. Tickets for this period should be bought well in advance.

Transsiberian has something unique to offer at each period of the year.

In winter you can enjoy the snow-white laced trees and vast dales running away from the window of your warm compartment, sipping hot tea from a glass in an open-work glass-holder burning under your fingers, and see the breath-taking picture of Lake Baikal covered with ice, peaceful and silent, hidden from snowstorm and blizzard under a thick blanket of snow.

In summer, when the weather is milder, Lake Baikal becomes the preferred place of vacation for Russians. Both foreign and local travelers love traditional wooden mini-hotels built on the shores of the Lake where you can spend a couple of nights before goin on with your travel.
